Great success for all at The Delph 2 miler event

SUNDAY 18TH JUNE.

There was a great atmosphere at the first Delph Watersports Centre Two Mile Open Water Swim Event today with 20 participants enjoying the 21 degree water temperature. The weather was excellent until three hours afterwards when heavy rain started.

This is the longest event that we have attempted at this venue and everyone proved equal to the challenge.

The Women's 2miles Freestyle was won by Michelle Nickson in 42.34 from Tara Clark, our youngest swimmer at thirteen years of age in 49.00 and Ashleigh Gray in 49.18.

The Women's One Mile Freestyle was won by Jill Jackson in 20.36 from Lurdes Corlett in 28.55.

Tara Clark was first junior in 49.00.

The Men's Freestyle event was won by Clinton Halsall in 52.15 from Paul Weall in second place with 55.30 and Austin Clark in third with 62.10.

The Women's Breaststroke event was won by Tracy Slater in 66.44 from Alison Mather in second place with 72.50 and newcomer Debra Hesford in 1 hour 50 mins in third place.

The Men's Breaststroke event was won by Andy Wilkinson in 2 hours 9 mins.

A big thank you to Andy Godber for all of his help in the event organisation and for participating in the event.

Here's to our next swim event on Sunday 10th September. It'll be another two Miler with a one mile event as an extra option.
