WORLD BIATHLE CHAMPIONSHIPS, NUSA DUA BEACH, BALI, INDONESIA. November 2023

We've now arrived home from the World Biathle Championships in Indonesia. Competitors frommany countries made the long journey to this beautiful island, in our case involving a 24 hour trip.

Conditions were very hot, with air temperature on the day reaching 31°C and water temperature of 30°C. The sea swim involved two large sections of running in shallow water before actually swimming. The run took place on sand, grass and concrete.

I achieved my highest ever World Championship individual placing of 5th and gained silver medal in the team category. I was the second British athlete to finish in my category. My fellow TEAM GB silver medallists were race winner Richard Wallace and former Hungarian Olympic Modern Pentathlete, Lajos Fazekas.

There was an added bonus as I was presented with a Team Silver Medal from the European Biathle Championships in Munich earlier this summer. My Great Britain team members were Lajos Fazekas and former GB 400 metre runner, John McCabe. This meant I've won medals at the British, European and World Championships in 2022 and 2023.

After the event, there was plenty of time for Jean and I to enjoy Bali. We will always remember the smiles and kindness of the Indonesian people.
